Doraemon Chocolate Chiffon Cake

This order was placed by a mother who’s celebrating her daughter’s 2nd birthday. She is a big fan of Doraemon, a popular Japanese cartoon character that’s wide-spread throughout Asia in the 90’s, that still has a very big fan-base from viewers of all ages.

Having already seen it in shops that pictures being produced using small stars (or as my brother’s friends referred to as “pixels”), I thought it would be fun to make the pattern/picture of Doraemon using the same method.

The picture is outlined using dark chocolate, then piped into with different coloured whipped cream. This is a 7″ round cake.

My son’s birthday is coming soon. I would like to do a doeramon cake for him. But can you please advise me whether to outline the black chocolate firsr or the the pixels first?

    Apprecite your advice.

    Best regards,

    Hi Janet,
I’ve always outlined the picture first then “colour” in. For more prominent lines, I would trace the outline again after everything’s all done. Hope that helps, all the best!
