Lucky Aarya, her mother asked for 2 cakes for her birthday, one small 7″ chiffon cake for the family gathering and a big one (which she went half-half with her classmate) to share with the class later in the week.
They sent me a picture of another cake where she liked the balloon idea, and also wanted a slightly different version to my previous one where Peppa was having fun walking in the mud, so I thought this would be a cute one to make.
I went with a grass-green background for the outdoorsy style, and she wanted a chocolate chiffon cake this time.
This cake was made in February 2016, I am catching up I promise!
On the 17th of January, 2016, my husband’s Aunt and Uncle celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary!
They’ve always been my cake testers, and have specifically asked if I could provide a cake for their anniversary. Aunt Rita said it would be a small gathering, and when I asked her how many people, she said 20! Obviously small means different to different people!
I’ve decided to go all out, with a 2-tier cake. 12″ bottom + 7″ top, vanilla chiffon cake with Tahitian vanilla chantilly cream, of course I went with a gold theme! They requested this vanilla chiffon cake as Aunty absolutely loved her birthday cake that I made for her a few months ago, and wanted one just the same.
They hosted a lunch with their bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girls and page boy, and of course relatives who managed to fly to Wellington to help celebrate this unique occasion.
This cake was dedicated to Uncle Geoff and Aunty Rita, may you continue to cherish each other, and we are Looking forward to your 60th!
First cake of the year, is the notorious Peppa Pig!
Not too sure what the craze is with kids, every child I’ve heard about is obsessed with Peppa Pig! I must say for the little I’ve seen, it seems educational and teaches good values, which tends to be missing from kids shows these day and age, so keep it up Peppa!
Aashiya is also in love with Peppa Pig that she wanted one for her 3rd birthday. This was a big 12 inch vanilla chiffon cake with chantilly cream for her day care centre.
Are you or is your child infatuated with Peppa Pig too? What do you love about her?
Last cake of the year 2015 was for Aanya’s birthday. She wanted a beautiful tiara on her cake, and loves all things pink and purple.
Her mother got a beautiful Tiara (I secretly wanted one for myself!)
This was a very unique cake indeed, 10″ chiffon cake with pineapple filling and pineapple chantilly cream! It was not just pineapple juice, it was a special Indian pineapple essence provided by Aanya’s mother, which she brought from India and could only be found in India.
The essence was super powerful and amazingly fragrant, just 2-3 drops of this essence in 1 litre of cream and it was flavourful and tasted amazing.

Shock and horror, I seem to go through phases when I completely forget to update this blog, then I remember again.
I have been otherwise maintaining my Facebook page well though! It’s always updated with the newest creations, hence the pinned post on the top of this blog.
However, it’s time to redeem myself, here’s one of the 2015 creations – yes, it’s been that long, I’ve just made Tony’s son’s birthday cake for 2016 and below were for 2015, the shame!!
So anyway, following Tony’s order for his kids (the Pocoyo one), this was actually his last order for the boys in 2015 where he asked for 42 mini cupcakes for the childcare centre to celebrate his son’s birthday. Blue buttercream icing with sprinkles did the trick, don’t they look pretty?
Here’s the 2nd cake for Tony, his younger son Nolan’s birthday. He ordered a vanilla chiffon cake (I checked again this time to make sure it’s not chocolate!) pretty much everything’s the same except for the picture on top – 7-inch, whipped cream filling, but he’d liked less food colouring – I see that my attempt to make the navy blue wasn’t really necessary after all!
I like this one light actually, especially with the yellow background, really makes the blue character POP!
I’m so out of it, it’s only after they’ve picked up the cake that I looked up this character – apparently he’s called Pocoyo, some kids TV show thingy?
Yes, in case you’re wondering why it looks bigger than that previous 7″ cake, it’s dos I made it 8″ this time to make up for that chocolate cake mistake. I’m surprised how 1 inch makes such a big difference, it doesn’t look as crowded anymore! Either that or I was too ambitious with the size of the rocket on that previous cake, who knows? 🙂
Nolan’s classmates are in for a treat – Tony’s also ordered 40 mini cupcakes to share with his childcare centre on Tuesday!
